Gus Maples is a Vice President at TG&A, where he leverages a refined working knowledge of the U.S. Congress and federal agencies on behalf of TG&A clients. His advocacy experience includes lobbying for numerous organizations and causes, ranging from industry trade associations and Fortune 500 companies to local public agencies.
Prior to joining TG&A, Maples served on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations for five federal budget cycles. In his capacity as Professional Staff Member, he oversaw more than $50 billion in budgetary resources and programs at the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Maples advised Transportation-HUD Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Susan Collins (R-ME) on policy and funding issues, departmental rulemakings, and oversight of grant programs administered by agencies including the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He has been intimately involved in drafting annual government funding bills from the committee mark-up process to floor consideration, conference negotiations between the Senate and House of Representatives, and ultimately Presidential enactment.
Originally from Mississippi, Maples earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Leadership from the University of Mississippi. He is a 2025 candidate for Master of Public Service from the University of Arkansas’s Clinton School.
